In constructing investment portfolios, we use a blend of methods, with our first emphasis to identify our client’s primary investment objective for their portfolio and their unique capacity for the associated risk. Depending on each client’s unique circumstances, these guide us in assessing which income and/or growth opportunities are optimal for their particular investment portfolio.

Income generating investments may consist of earning interest through GICs and bonds, dividends from stocks or by way of alternative ideas, such as private lending or real estate. This is our “rental property” approach to generating regular income for our investors. Boring as it may be, it’s the solid process which grows portfolios as the proverbial paint dries.

Growth investments focus on opportunities to generate capital gain returns. It’s akin to selling the “rental property” once it appreciates significantly in value. More exciting? Yes. But with more possibilities comes more uncertainty too. There’s no watching grass grow idly here.
